A 19-year-old elephant in Buriram province, Thailand, attacked its handler and damaged vehicles after being interrupted during mating.

According to the Daily Mail, the elephant, named Fly Pets Uthai, seriously injured its 35-year-old owner, Somporn, who was taken to hospital with lung injuries. The animal then fled, causing damage to two cars and chasing locals.

Videos captured the elephant destroying vehicles and chasing a motorcycle rider. Village chief Uthai Yeerum stated that Somporn reportedly pressured the elephant to "finish quickly" during the mating process, which likely triggered the aggressive behavior.

Volunteers from the Elephant Kingdom Hospital administered a sedative to the elephant, which took two hours to take effect. The elephant is now under observation in Surin province, while its handler remains in hospital.

One of the owners of the damaged vehicles, 30-year-old Natapon Malihun, said he is awaiting information from his insurance company regarding coverage of the damages.
