Skier Dies in Avalanche in the French Alps

A Spanish skier died in the French Alps after being swept away by an avalanche while skiing off-piste.

The French meteorological service had issued a warning for a 'significant' risk of avalanches in the northern part of the French Alps and a 'high' risk in the southern part of the mountain range and the Pyrenees.

Since the beginning of the month, approximately 20 skiers have been killed by avalanches in the Alps – in Austria, France, and Switzerland.
