Turkey: Over 230 Aftershocks After 6.1R – Two Missing

In Turkey, more than 230 aftershocks have been recorded following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that struck the Sındırgı area of Balıkesir on Sunday. At least 10 buildings have collapsed, and two residents of a three-story building are missing.
The mayor of Sındırgı, Serkan Sak, reported that two of the six people who were in the collapsed building have not been located. Rescue efforts are ongoing in the town and surrounding villages.
An 81-year-old man was recovered dead from the rubble in Sındırgı. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that none of the 29 injured are in serious condition.
According to AFAD, the earthquake had a focal depth of approximately 11 kilometers and was felt in the surrounding provinces, as well as on islands in the northeastern Aegean and in Alexandroupoli.
The president of OASP, Efthymios Lekkas, reassured that the earthquake does not affect Greek faults.
