Orbán Threatens EU Budget Blockade Unless Frozen Funds are Released

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has threatened to veto the EU's new seven-year budget unless Brussels releases all the European funds that have been 'frozen'.
Orbán, speaking at a university in the Romanian city of Băile Tușnad, criticized the EU for supporting Ukraine and accused Brussels of planning to install a 'pro-Ukrainian and pro-Brussels government' in Hungary through national elections.
Furthermore, Orbán criticized the EU leadership for trade agreements with the US and called for a change in leadership in the bloc. The European Commission has proposed a budget of 2 trillion euros for the period 2028-2034, with an emphasis on competitiveness and defense.
Orbán also claimed that 'globalist bureaucrats' are conspiring to channel European funds to Ukraine, while Hungarian farmers are protesting.
