Dutch far-right leader Geert Wilders has alleged unconfirmed irregularities in the Dutch parliamentary elections, shortly after his main opponent, Rob Jetten of the centrist D66 party, declared victory.

According to Dutch news agency ANP, Wilders' party (PVV) could not close the gap with D66. Wilders posted screenshots on platform X, reporting unregistered votes in Maastricht and missing ballot boxes in Zaanstad.

Wilders called for an investigation into these claims, while also questioning the connection between HackDefense, the company that had audited the vote-counting software, and the D66 party. HackDefense conducted tests in 2021 and 2023, but for the 2024 elections, Kiesraad assigned the audit to another company.

Pending the counting of votes from one electoral district and Dutch citizens abroad, D66 leads PVV by 15,155 votes. The final, official results will be announced next Friday.
