More than 1,000 migrants crossed the English Channel in small boats on Friday, heading towards the British coast. According to data from the UK Home Office, 1,072 people made the dangerous crossing from France in 13 boats on September 20.

Since the beginning of 2025, the number of crossings has reached 32,103, a record number for this time of year. The government of Kir Starmer is proceeding with the return of migrants to France, implementing the 'one in, one out' principle.

On Friday, an Iranian migrant was returned, the third in total to be sent back under the agreement. The first flights to transfer asylum seekers from France to the United Kingdom are expected next week.

The opposition is critical, calling the agreement 'ineffective'. Government sources emphasize that these are forced returns, comparing the new system with the previous cooperation plan with Rwanda.
