UK: Therapist Jailed for Sexually Abusing Patient

A 77-year-old therapist in the UK, Gordon Peck, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for sexually abusing a 40-year-old female patient. Peck convinced the woman to have sexual contact with him, claiming it would heal her childhood traumas.

According to the Daily Mail, Peck, a psychologist from Brighton, exploited his position to abuse the woman, who had trusted him to help her deal with depression and physical pain. Peck claimed that skin-to-skin contact and penetration were necessary to restore her health.

The 77-year-old was convicted on five counts of sexual assault. Authorities emphasized the importance of the victim's bravery and the need for clear ethical boundaries in therapeutic relationships.

It was also noted that Peck had been banned from practicing since 1980.
