UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy may face a £2,500 fine after fishing without the required license during a trip with US Vice President J.D. Vance.

The incident occurred at the lake on the Foreign Secretary's country estate at Chevening House in southeastern England, prior to a bilateral meeting. Vance joked that his children caught fish, unlike the UK Foreign Secretary.

Lammy's office confirmed that a license had not been obtained prior to the trip, but that steps were taken to rectify the error. He wrote to the Department for Environment regarding the oversight. A Foreign Office spokesperson stated that the minister purchased the relevant fishing licenses once he was informed of the error.

Vance is in England with his family, spending time in the village of Dean in the Cotswolds.
