Deadly Wildfire Under Control on French Mediterranean Coast

The worst wildfire in 50 years along the French Mediterranean coast was brought under control last night, after burning through 17,000 hectares of forest land.
The fire started on Tuesday afternoon in the village of Ribote, between Narbonne and Carcassonne. The regional prefect stated that it will take several days to fully extinguish the fire.
One woman lost her life and thirteen people were injured, including eleven firefighters. The flames destroyed or significantly damaged 36 houses and approximately 40 vehicles.
