Argentina Repays US Currency Swap Agreement

Argentina has repaid the United States for the currency swap agreement made in late 2025, according to an announcement by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and the country's central bank.
Scott Bessent stated that Argentina fully repaid the amount drawn from the agreement, highlighting the country's strengthened financial position. The agreement, worth $20 billion, was intended to stabilize Argentina's economy.
The Central Bank of Argentina confirmed the settlement of the currency swap agreement in December. According to La Nacion newspaper, $2.5 billion of the available $20 billion had been used.
The US Secretary added that Argentina has returned to the financial markets and has made changes to its monetary and exchange rate policy.
