Boeing to Pay $28 Million to Widow of Ethiopian Airlines Crash Victim

Boeing will pay over $28 million to the widower of a victim of the Ethiopian Airlines crash. Jurors in a Chicago federal court awarded the compensation to Soumya Bhattarai, who lost his wife, Siha Garg, in the accident.
The accident, involving a Boeing 737 MAX 8, occurred in March 2019, a few months after a similar crash of Lion Air in October 2018. In total, 346 people lost their lives in the two accidents.
Boeing admitted that a faulty flight control software contributed to the tragedies. Boeing's lawyer, Dan Webb, expressed the company's regret and apologized to Bhattarai.
Relatives of 155 victims have filed lawsuits against Boeing. The company has already paid out several billion dollars in compensation.
