Colombia: 12 Missing in Coal Mine After Explosion

At least 12 coal miners are missing following an explosion in a coal mine in central Colombia, in Cundinamarca. The explosion was caused by a gas buildup.
According to Governor Jorge Emilio Rey, 15 miners were trapped, but three managed to escape on their own. One of the survivors was taken to a medical center in Sutatausa, about 70 kilometers north of Bogota.
Rescue teams are examining methane levels before beginning the search operation for the missing miners.
Mining accidents are frequent in Colombia, especially in illegally operated mines.
