Ursula von der Leyen and Donald Trump will meet in Scotland on Sunday to discuss a potential EU-US trade agreement. The meeting comes as the August 1st deadline set by the American president approaches, threatening to impose 30% tariffs on European imports.

The President of the European Commission announced via "X" (formerly Twitter) that she had agreed to meet with Trump to discuss transatlantic trade relations.

Trump estimated the chances of a trade agreement with the EU at "50-50 and probably less." He said he is working diligently with Europe and the European Union.

A European Commission spokesperson also claimed that an agreement is "within breathing distance."

Trump also referred to negotiations with China, assuring that there is an outline of an agreement. Delegations from the governments of China and the US will meet next week in Stockholm for discussions on tariffs.

On the other hand, Trump appeared tougher on Canada, stating that there are not many chances for an agreement and that Canada could be one of the countries that will pay the tariffs.
