Lukoil to Sell Assets to US Carlyle Group

Lukoil, Russia's second-largest oil company, announced an agreement to sell its foreign assets to the American Carlyle Group for approximately $22 billion.
The sale is subject to approval by the US government. LUKOIL International GmbH, the unit overseeing the company's foreign assets, will be sold to the Carlyle Group.
The Russian company states that the completion of the transaction requires a license from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury Department.
Lukoil and Rosneft have been sanctioned by the US since October due to slow progress in Russia-Ukraine peace talks.
The US Treasury Department has blocked two previous attempts to reach an agreement and has given Lukoil a deadline until February 28 to sell its foreign assets.
