Trump's Tariffs Increase US Trade Deficit

Despite the efforts of former US President Donald Trump to reduce the trade deficit through tariffs, data indicates that the deficit has increased.

According to economic analysts, the tariffs imposed by Trump did not lead to a reduction in dependence on foreign products or a return of manufacturing to the United States.

Instead, a rearrangement of trade was observed, with increased costs for American businesses. While the trade deficit with China decreased, imports from other countries such as Vietnam and Taiwan increased.

Trump had claimed that the trade deficit had decreased by 78% due to tariffs, but official data does not confirm these claims.

The US Supreme Court rejected the use of an international emergency law to impose tariffs, but Trump stated that he would continue to use other means to impose charges on imported products.

Economists are divided on whether tariffs can reduce the trade deficit, as it is affected by many factors, such as public spending and the exchange rate of the dollar.
