Donald Trump's aggressive immigration policies in the US have created a climate of fear among Hispanic consumers, leading to a decline in tequila sales, according to **Becle**, the world's largest tequila producer.

Lander Otegui, marketing head of Proximo Spirits, stated that the tension surrounding immigration has created a difficult environment for consumers, especially immigrants and Spanish speakers.

Following operations in states like Michigan and Minnesota, many Hispanics are limiting their movements, fearing arrest, even if they are legally in the country.

Other alcoholic beverage groups, such as Constellation Brands and Coty, have also recorded sluggish sales among Hispanic consumers due to deportation fears.

In the quarter to the end of December, Becle's tequila sales volumes in the US and Canada fell by 6.4% year-on-year, while revenues decreased by 12.2%.

Fear has also spread to supermarkets, with ICE agents targeting stores frequented by Hispanic consumers.
