Spirit Airlines: Why it chose closure over Trump's bail-out
Share on:

Spirit Airlines, known for its yellow airplanes, has ceased operations after shareholders and creditors rejected a bail-out plan from the Donald Trump administration.

The Trump administration considered a $500 million rescue plan for Spirit. However, investors and creditors decided to close the company due to accumulated debts and lack of profitability prospects.

Spirit canceled numerous flights, stranding passengers in the USA, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Reuters reported complaints from customers and consumer associations, as the company provided affordable air travel for low-income Americans.

Former customers expressed their dissatisfaction on platforms like Reddit and X, emphasizing that Spirit offered an economic solution for travelers with limited income.

Spirit's closure coincided with a period of rising prices in the American economy.
