Trump Imposes 50% Tariffs on Brazilian Goods, Threatens EU

The United States has imposed 50% tariffs on imported goods from Brazil. The decision took effect following an executive order by Donald Trump.
This move is linked to Trump's displeasure with the prosecution of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. Bolsonaro is accused of involvement in an attempted coup following the 2022 elections.
The Brazilian government downplays the impact of the tariffs, acknowledging that 36% of exports to the US are affected. Exceptions are provided for products such as orange juice.
Concurrently, Trump threatened the European Union with 35% tariffs if the promise of $600 billion in investments is not kept. He also announced tariffs of up to 250% on pharmaceutical products manufactured in China and Ireland.
