Concerns have been raised following the publication of an article in the official magazine of the Albanian Ministry of Defense (Gazeta “Ushtria”), accompanied by a map presenting Greek territories as part of the so-called 'National Albania'.

Specifically, the map shows Corfu (Korfuz), Igoumenitsa (Gumenicë), Preveza (Preveze), Arta (Artë), Ioannina (Janinë), and Grevena (Grevenë) as part of 'National Albania'. This term, combined with the depiction of Greek territories, alludes to the irredentist theory of 'Greater Albania'.

The article refers to the Congress of Berlin as a 'historical injustice' against Albanians, implying that these territories 'belonged' to Albania. However, the Albanian state had not even been founded in 1878.

On November 3, 2024, Edi Rama stated in Thessaloniki that 'Northern Epirus is a term that has died'.
