US Aircraft at UK Bases in Cyprus Amid Iran Tensions; Airstrike Denial

The United Kingdom has deployed six Royal Air Force (RAF) F-35 fighter jets to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, as the United States increases its military presence in the region amid rising tensions with Iran.
According to Sky News, Britain is not preparing to support any US military operation against Iran. The RAF deployment in Cyprus, along with the dispatch of four Typhoon fighters to Qatar, aims to bolster British defenses in case of Iranian retaliation.
In recent weeks, the US has moved naval and air forces closer to Iran, including the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and the USS Gerald R. Ford. More than 15 US refueling aircraft have moved to Europe and the Middle East since mid-January, operating from locations including RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus.
Sky News reported that more than 100 US fighter jets are available to military planners in the region. Despite the military buildup, the British government has not agreed to allow the US to launch strikes against Iran from Diego Garcia or RAF Fairford.
US President Donald Trump stated that the world will soon learn whether Washington will reach an agreement with Tehran or take military action. RAF Akrotiri has been used previously for operations in the Middle East.
