Mertz Concerned About Trump Tariffs, Seeks Joint EU Response

German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz has expressed concern about Donald Trump's new tariff policy and is seeking a joint European response.

Mr. Mertz stated that he would raise the issue of tariffs in his meeting with the American president in Washington. He also stressed that he would coordinate closely with other European Union countries to present a common position.

He noted that the trade uncertainty caused by tariffs is the biggest poison for the economies of Germany and the United States.
