Athens Responds to Egypt's Note Verbale on EEZ

Athens considers Egypt's Note Verbale of July 8, 2025, regarding the Maritime Spatial Planning published by Greece on April 16, 2025, as 'expected'.
In a statement, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that this is an 'expected reaction from a neighboring country, through standard diplomatic correspondence, with which the delimitation of maritime zones is pending, as is the case with Egypt'.
It is noted that the map refers to potential boundaries, according to the median line, in areas where there has been no bilateral delimitation. The Greek Foreign Minister discussed the issue with his Egyptian counterpart, who confirmed Egypt's willingness to cooperate and consult.
The two sides praised the EEZ delimitation agreement signed 5 years ago and reiterated their commitment to UNCLOS for future cooperation.
