Denmark's PM Doesn't Rule Out Recognition of Palestinian State

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that Denmark does not rule out recognizing a Palestinian state, provided it is democratic.
In statements made on Tuesday, Frederiksen emphasized that Denmark is "in favor" of recognition, but it must be ensured that it is a democratic state.
The Prime Minister mentioned that recognition must occur at the "right moment," which will favor the two-state solution and where a viable and democratic Palestinian state can be secured, without the influence of Hamas and with mutual recognition of Israel.
Furthermore, Denmark will use its EU presidency to increase pressure on Israel, although Frederiksen acknowledged that it will be difficult to gather the necessary support.
The October 7th attack caused the death of 1,219 people in Israel, while the Israeli response has led to the death of at least 62,744 people in Gaza.
