The future of the European fighter jet FCAS (Future Combat Air System) is in doubt due to disagreements between Dassault Aviation and Airbus regarding the leadership of the program. The €100 billion program has been delayed and faces proposals for Germany to withdraw.

Dassault CEO Éric Trappier stated that Airbus is unwilling to cooperate, jeopardizing the program. The disagreement concerns the allocation of tasks and the leading role in the FCAS program. Germany is also considering the British GCAP (Tempest) program as an alternative.

France, Germany, and Spain are expected to make decisions soon regarding the continuation or abandonment of the FCAS program.
