Diplomatic battle for Vertical Corridor at White House

A meeting will be held at the White House on February 24 regarding the Vertical Corridor, an alternative supply route for Europe. The meeting elevates the plan to a political stake.

The Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, will be present, along with the Energy Ministers from the countries through which the Vertical Corridor passes, the CEO of Aktor, Alexandros Exarchou, the CEO of DEPA Emporias, Kostas Xifaras, and representatives of the Commission. On the other side, the US Secretaries of Energy and Interior, Dan Bergham and Chris Wright, will be seated.

The task force is called upon to manage the obstacles raised by states and circles within the European Union.

Europe seeks to become independent of Russian gas by September 2027, creating a gap of 35 billion cubic meters in SE Europe.
