Dominican Republic: Haitian Deportations Rise by 40% in 2025

Deportations of Haitians from the Dominican Republic increased by nearly 40% in 2025, according to the general directorate of migration (DGM). A total of 379,553 Haitian nationals were deported in 2025, compared to 276,215 in 2024.
President Luis Abinader has tightened immigration policy, targeting 10,000 deportations per week. Authorities conducted 6,535 interception operations, while 5,027 Haitians were charged with actions contrary to the law.
