EU Urges US to Reconsider Visa Denial for Abbas

The European Union has called on the United States to 'reconsider' its refusal to grant entry visas to Palestinian officials planning to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September.

The head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, stated in Copenhagen after a meeting of the 27 Foreign Ministers: 'We all ask that this decision be reconsidered, taking into account international law.'

Washington announced the decision a few weeks before the UN General Assembly, where France is expected to support the recognition of a Palestinian state.
