EU Expects US to Honor Tariff Commitments

The European Commission has issued a statement regarding trade tariffs, emphasizing that the EU expects the US to honor its commitments as outlined in the joint statement.
According to the statement, the Commission points out that "a deal is a deal" and announces that there has been high-level communication between Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič, US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, and US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick.
The European Commission is seeking full transparency regarding the measures the United States government intends to take following the recent Supreme Court decision regarding the law on international emergency economic powers.
The Commission stresses that it will always ensure the full protection of EU interests and that EU companies and exporters must receive fair treatment, predictability, and legal certainty.
The EU expects its products to continue to enjoy the most competitive treatment, without tariff increases beyond the agreed ceiling.
The Commission is in close and continuous contact with the US government and will continue to work to reduce tariffs, maintaining a stable and predictable transatlantic trade environment.
