The EU is considering a strong response to Donald Trump's imposition of tariffs related to Greenland, according to Politico. European leaders are under pressure to abandon their soft approach towards Trump.

Donald Trump's decision to impose tariffs on countries supporting Greenland is pushing transatlantic relations to a critical point. The EU is considering retaliatory measures against Washington, using the Anti-Coercion Instrument, the EU's so-called 'bazooka,' a trade retaliation tool initially designed for China.

Valérie Hayer, head of the Renew Europe group in the European Parliament, stated that the activation of the EU Anti-Coercion Instrument should be explicitly considered. Emmanuel Macron hinted at potential retaliation, saying that Europeans would respond in a coordinated manner.

The European Parliament is prepared to block the ratification of the EU-US trade agreement. Manfred Weber stated that it is not possible to approve the agreement at this stage. EU Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič said it would be 'very complicated' to approve the EU-US trade agreement under the current tensions.
