Bartholomew's Plea for Peace Ahead of Trump-Putin Meeting

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has appealed for peace ahead of the meeting between the presidents of the United States and Russia. The appeal was made from Imbros, the Patriarch's birthplace, where he traveled to celebrate the Dormition of the Theotokos on August 15th.
After the Vespers service for the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos, Patriarch Bartholomew asked God to enlighten the two leaders to bring peace to the world, to stop wars and bloodshed, and for logic, justice, and mutual respect to prevail. He emphasized that there is room for everyone and there is no need for people to kill each other.
