According to a report by the Latvian Constitution Protection Bureau (SAB), unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) are responsible for 70% to 80% of injuries and deaths in the war in Ukraine, affecting both Ukrainian and Russian forces.

The report emphasizes that the widespread use of drones makes the war more dynamic at a tactical level but reduces the chances of a strategic breakthrough. It favors small-scale operations without leading to a decisive turning point.

The authors of the report conclude that the final outcome of the war depends on Western military and political support for Ukraine.

The SAB also reveals Russia's plans to build a drone production plant in Belarus, with a production capacity of up to 100,000 drones per year, enhancing Moscow's capabilities.

An analysis by the Atlantic Council shows that since the end of 2024, Russia has adapted more quickly to drone technology.

Russian media reports that the Russian Ministry of Defense has launched a recruitment campaign in universities for specialists in IT and drone technology.

The SAB report also refers to incidents of interference and drone intrusions near critical infrastructure in Europe, increasing the sense of insecurity.
