Thailand's parliament has re-elected Anutin Charnvirakul as Prime Minister. The conservative leader will remain head of government following early parliamentary elections.

Charnvirakul pledged to work for the good of the country, while his government will face the impact of the war in the Middle East, anemic economic growth and tensions with Cambodia.

The Bhumjaithai party, which supports the armed forces and the monarchy, had its best election result in history, developing nationalistic rhetoric after clashes with Cambodia in 2025.

Charnvirakul was first elected Prime Minister in September 2025, after the removal of Paetongtarn Shinawatra. His government is called upon to boost economic growth and address challenges in the tourism sector.

At the same time, the country is facing rising fuel prices and supply problems, while the border conflict with Cambodia remains at the forefront.
