US Senator Roger Wicker Visits Taiwan

U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, the Republican Chairman of the powerful Armed Services Committee of the U.S. Senate and a strong supporter of Taiwan, arrived in Taipei today.
Although the U.S. Government does not have formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan, it is the main supplier of military equipment and supporter in international forums, leaving open the possibility of military defense.
Issues concerning the island trigger increasing tensions with China, which considers Taiwan a breakaway province.
