Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced that a group of 26 Italian citizens, members of the Global Sumud Flottilla who had been temporarily detained in Israel, will depart shortly on a charter flight.

He added, "They have already been transferred to a military base from which they will board a flight to Istanbul," while "another 15 Italians, who are under temporary detention in Israel, did not sign the removal order from the country and will have to await deportation through judicial channels, a longer process."

The Italian Foreign Ministry has also given "instructions to its embassy to immediately request better detention conditions for its citizens who remain in detention in Israel."

Yesterday, Friday, four Italian MPs and senators, who were on board the Flottilla vessels intercepted by Israeli forces, returned to Rome.
