Operation Aspides: Warning of Potential Attacks on Red Sea Merchant Ships

The European operation "Aspides" has issued a warning about potential attacks on merchant ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, following a rocket launch by the Houthis against Israel on March 28.
According to the announcement, the Houthis appear to be involved in the conflict, with a possible next step being attacks on merchant ships. Operation "Aspides" advises ships to move with caution in the area.
In its recommendations, Operation "Aspides" emphasizes that merchant ships linked to Israel or the United States should avoid transiting the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. For other ships, it is recommended to continue sending support requests to the Maritime Security Center of the Indian Ocean (MSCIO).
It is also recommended to avoid entering Yemeni territorial waters and to sail close to the African coast, as well as to maintain continuous communication with the MSCIO and UKMTO.
