Erdogan: I reminded Trump that we paid for the F-35s

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that he reminded US President Donald Trump that Turkey had paid for the F-35 aircraft. The statement was made at a reception at the National Assembly for the start of the new parliamentary term, in response to a journalist's question.

The reference was made in the context of the F-35 fighter program, from which Turkey was expelled by the United States due to the procurement of the Russian S-400 air defense system.

Erdogan also stated that "we are monitoring developments" without giving further details on the American president's reaction to the Turkish request.
