Farantouris to Akar: Threats to Greece and Cyprus Come from Turkey

SYRIZA MEP Nikolas Farantouris named the "Turkish threat" at the Inter-Parliamentary Conference on Security and Defence in Copenhagen. Addressing General Hulusi Akar, he stressed that for Greece and Cyprus, the threats come from Turkey, unlike other countries such as Estonia or Poland that may be threatened by Russia.
Mr. Farantouris stated his support for a common European security and defence policy, emphasizing the need to include the national interests of member states. He also expressed concerns about Turkey's participation in European defence, given the threats it poses against Greece and Cyprus.
He also referred to the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), stressing that the participation of countries that threaten the territorial integrity of EU member states cannot be accepted.
