Farandouros to Meet Libyan Prime Minister in January

SYRIZA-PS MEP, Nikos Farandouros, has been officially invited by the Libyan government for meetings in Tripoli in January.
According to his statements to APE-MPE, Mr. Farandouros will meet with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Energy of Libya. The purpose of the visit is to discuss the Turkish-Libyan memorandum, which he describes as a "thorn" in Libya-Europe relations.
Mr. Farandouros stressed the need for a strict European stance against the memorandum, as well as for the protection of Greek interests. He also referred to the need to support the Greek Orthodox Patriarchates as a tool of soft power for Greece.
Previously, Mr. Farandouros had contacts in the USA, where he discussed Euro-American relations and the Turkish-Libyan memorandum with the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres.
