Finnish President Alexander Stubb argues that Ukraine can learn from Finland's historical experience, especially in dealing with Russia. Despite territorial losses in the Winter War of 1939-1940, Finland maintained its independence and evolved into one of Europe's most successful states.

Stubb referred to a meeting at the White House where a possible solution to end the war in Ukraine by 2025 was discussed. He emphasized that Finland, under the leadership of Carl Gustaf Mannerheim, demonstrated resilience and realism, maintaining its independence despite concessions to Moscow.

Finland was forced to cede 10% of its territory to Russia in 1944 and accept restrictions on its army. However, it developed a 'total defense' system and avoided actions that could anger Moscow, a policy known as 'Finlandization'. Stubb argues that Ukraine is in a better position today, as it has allies who support it financially and provide security guarantees.

Ukraine has the option to rebuild, fight corruption, and promote social justice, learning from Finland's experience.
