FT: Ukraine to 'Buy' US Security Guarantees with European Money

According to the Financial Times, Ukraine intends to purchase $100 billion worth of American weapons with European funding to secure US security guarantees following a potential peace agreement with Russia.
Additionally, Kyiv is proposing a $50 billion deal to produce drones with Ukrainian companies that have pioneered this technology since the start of the Russian invasion in 2022.
These proposals were shared with the US ahead of the Ukrainian president's meeting with his American counterpart at the White House on Monday.
The document does not specify the weapons Ukraine wishes to procure, but it has expressed a desire to purchase at least 10 American Patriot air defense systems to protect its cities and infrastructure.
Kyiv is also seeking war reparations from Russia, potentially from the $300 billion in Russian state assets frozen in Western countries. Any easing of sanctions should depend on Russia's compliance with a future peace agreement.
