France: Iran Must Make Major Concessions, Says Foreign Minister

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has called on Iran to make "major concessions and a radical change of attitude" following the election of Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader.

Barrot also called on Israel and Hezbollah to cease hostilities between Lebanon and Israel. He declined to comment on whether Israeli operations in southern Lebanon are disproportionate.

Mojtaba Khamenei, a 56-year-old cleric, succeeds his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed on the first day of American-Israeli strikes in Iran.

Barrot emphasized the need to end Iran's destabilizing actions in the region and called for a return to the November 2024 ceasefire.
