Germany and the US are close to an agreement to send Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, according to Bloomberg.

The agreement is expected to include the transfer of two Patriot batteries from German stocks to Kyiv, with the US government replenishing German stocks.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that Germany will help supply a total of five Patriot systems to Ukraine as soon as possible.

German and American officials are aiming to finalize the details of the agreement, including the timeline for replacing the German defense systems. The announcement of the agreement is expected within the week.

Germany has already provided three Patriot systems to Ukraine and has lent two to Poland.

According to sources, Switzerland has received notification from the US that an order for Patriot systems will be delayed.

Britain and Germany are expected to commit to providing new air defense systems to Ukraine.
