Germany: Limited Progress in Gaza Aid Drops – Concerns Over Distribution
Share on:

Germany acknowledges "initial, limited" progress in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza through airdrops, as part of a Jordanian initiative. However, concerns are being raised regarding the effectiveness of the distribution.

In a statement following a meeting of the Federal Security Council, the Chancellery emphasized that Israel remains obligated to ensure the provision of comprehensive assistance. Simultaneously, the German government expresses concerns about reports of aid being withheld by Hamas and other organizations.

According to Bild, there is uncertainty as to whether the food and medicine dropped from Bundeswehr aircraft are reaching the population in need. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense admitted that there is no possibility of on-site monitoring of the distribution.

The Wall Street Journal, citing Egyptian officials, reported that criminal gangs are stealing aid from Egypt and selling it at high prices.

Notably, the government statement does not include a declaration of solidarity with Israel, nor any hint of imposing sanctions.
