German cities, including Hanover and Dusseldorf, are urging the government to host children from the Gaza Strip. The mayors of five cities sent a letter to the Interior and Foreign Ministries requesting the creation of the necessary legal and organizational prerequisites.

The Social Democratic Party (SPD) supports the initiative, while Norway and Italy have already begun airlifting children from Gaza. However, the head of the CSU regional group, Alexander Hoffmann, opposes it, arguing that Arab neighboring states should take responsibility with international support.

A spokesperson for the Interior Ministry stated that no official request has been received and reiterated government reservations. The priority is to strengthen medical assistance in the region. The German armed forces continue to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza by air, with 43 tons of aid having been dropped since Friday.
