Greta Thunberg will participate in a new humanitarian aid flotilla bound for Gaza, aiming to 'break the illegal Israeli blockade.' Susan Sarandon will also join the mission.

According to Thunberg, the flotilla will depart on August 31 from ports in Spain and will join other ships on September 4 from Tunisia and other ports.

The initiative, called 'Global Sumud Flotilla,' includes members of humanitarian organizations, doctors, artists, and others from 44 countries. The exact number of ships has not been specified.

The 'Global Sumud Flotilla' describes itself as an independent organization, not affiliated with governments or political parties.

In June, Israeli forces intercepted the sailboat Madleen, carrying activists of various nationalities, 185 km west of Gaza.
