EU Considers Suspending Israel's Access to Research Program Over Gaza

The European Commission is considering suspending Israel's access to the EU's Horizon research and innovation program in response to ongoing actions in Gaza. EU Commissioners are meeting on July 28 to discuss this measure, following Israel's failure to improve Palestinian access to food and medical supplies in Gaza.
"A partial suspension of the Horizon program will be discussed today in the College of Commissioners," a senior EU source confirmed to Euronews. The proposal will be discussed and potentially voted on by member states.
Suspending Israel's participation in the Horizon program was one of ten options presented to the European Commission and member states after a report confirmed that Israel had violated international law.
On July 10, the EU negotiated a "significant" improvement in humanitarian aid access to Gaza. The UN estimates that over 1000 people have been killed at food distribution points alone, and dozens have died of starvation in recent days.
