The Trump administration revoked the visas of over 6,000 foreign students following stricter rules on illegal immigration and antisemitism, according to a U.S. official.

The main reason for the revocation was "overstaying the authorized period of stay" and "violations of the law." Approximately 4,000 were canceled due to student violations of the law.

The vast majority of students were accused of "assaults," "drunk driving," "thefts," and "supporting terrorism."

Then U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also revoked visas of students who participated in protests against the war in Israel in the Gaza Strip.

By executive order, Donald Trump had demanded stricter controls for those entering the U.S.
