Russia Declares Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Undesirable

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has declared the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation of Germany undesirable. The foundation is associated with the Die Linke (The Left) party. The decision was made on the grounds that the foundation organizes programs and undertakes initiatives against Russia.
The foundation's director, Daniela Trochowski, expressed regret over the escalation by the Russian government. According to the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation seeks to incite demonstrations, radicalize youth, and discredit organs of state power in Russia.
Jan van Aken, a leading member of Die Linke, stated that Vladimir Putin and his government fear the truth and criticism.
The Rosa Luxemburg Foundation was the last of the institutions linked to political parties in Germany that had not been declared an "undesirable organization" in Russia. Previously, the Heinrich Böll Foundation (Greens), Friedrich Ebert Foundation (Social Democrats), Friedrich Naumann Foundation (Free Democrats), and Konrad Adenauer Foundation (Christian Democrats) had also been declared undesirable. The foundations' offices in Moscow had already closed in 2022.
