Nobel Foundation: Prize cannot be transferred, response to Machado-Trump

The Nobel Foundation has issued a statement regarding the transfer of Nobel Prizes, following Maria Corina Machado's intention to donate her prize to Donald Trump.

According to the Foundation, the prizes are awarded exclusively to those who have offered the greatest benefit to humanity and only by the competent bodies. Therefore, the prize cannot be transferred, re-awarded or further distributed, not even on a symbolic level.

The statement emphasizes that one of the core missions of the Foundation is to safeguard the dignity of the prizes and their awarding process, as defined by Alfred Nobel's will.

This is the Foundation's second intervention after Machado's public announcement. The Foundation clarified that regardless of the fate of the medal, diploma or cash prize, the original laureate remains the one recorded in history.
