US Approves $825 Million Missile Sale to Ukraine

The State Department has approved the sale of up to 3,350 RIM-174 Standard ERAM (SM-6) surface-to-air missiles to Ukraine, valued at $825 million. The announcement was made by the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

US law requires Congress to be notified of major arms sales. The purchase will be supported by funding from the US, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway.

The missile sale (Zone 5 Technologies and CoAspire) was announced following a Russian attack involving hundreds of missiles and drones against Ukraine.

According to the announcement, the sale will bolster the security of a partner that is a force for stability and economic progress in Europe.
